UNDERSTANDING PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

DEVELOPMENT LEVEL  DESCRIPTIONS

BWP GRASSROOTS PROGRAM (Under 6-10)

The Grassroots Program provides our youngest players with the opportunity to get involved with our Club and staff in an educational and enthusiastic environment. The primary goal of this program is to foster the enjoyment of soccer. Within the program we offer three different age groups: Birth Years 2011-2012, 2009-2010, and 2007-2008. The Grassroots Program has been very well-received by the community and has become one of the Club’s more popular programs.

BWP GRASSROOTS LOCAL FLIGHT (Under 11 & 12)

The Local Flight focuses on improving and increasing technical skills. Training is twice per week and includes Futsal to enhance technique and speed of play. The programming will teach players to be more specific and clear on the field, to deal with the ball in a variety of situations, and to want and enjoy the ball. The training-to-match ratio is 2:1 and the flight will play locally in an 8v8 and will compete in four to six tournaments throughout the 9 month season.

THE REGIONAL FLIGHT (U13-U14)

The Regional Flight (U13 & U14) is a bridge from the development flight to the more advanced National flight. The programming places increased technical, physical and tactical demands on the players, through competitive state and regional match play. Training is two to three times per week and also features Futsal as part of its programming. The training-to-match ratio is 3:1. The flight participates in league play in the EDP and various USYS state and regional leagues plus Super Y league, for a total of six to eight regional tournaments throughout the 9-month season.

BWP GRASSROOTS PROGRAM (U15-U18)

Our National Flight is designed for players who aspire to play at the next level, which is, in most cases, collegiate soccer. To best prepare our players to reach their goals, this flight has a training-to-match ratio of 3:1, which we modeled on what the US Soccer Academy demands and expects of its member clubs. Training for this flight is three times per week over the course of a 9-month season. Most if not all of our athletes engage in strength & conditioning training outside the 3-session weekly training regime. The flight participates in six to eight regional and national-level tournaments throughout the 9-month season.
