Letter To Parents

Dear BWP Parents,

First, thank you for entrusting your player or players with our Club and Technical Staff. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to support their personal development through the sport of soccer. We have many programs with different expectations within the Club, but our core principles are developing agency and passion through enjoyment for the game.

Secondly, our Club’s player-centric philosophy is to support the player first, team second. The team houses the player to develop, and soccer is a collective sport that requires teamwork and collaboration to be successful. We believe strongly in developing the executive functioning of our players which requires consistent trial and error with effective feedback from the technical staff. Please understand this learning takes time, and room to fail as our players make their decisions their own decisions in the context of the game. Please be supportive and mindful from the sidelines, and let your player experience soccer for themselves.
Winning comes with proper preparation and consistent messaging over time, and needs to take a backseat to the development of the player as well as the group. Please help us create the best possible environment for your player to grow and develop.

Lastly, our Technical Staff is our Club’s number one asset and we strive to have the best teachers and mentors of the game to support our players’ growth. Please support your player by allowing the necessary space for your player to learn and be respectful of the technical staff coach’s messages to your player. Our technical staff is always available to answer any questions you may have about your player’s development. Please adhere to the 24-hour rule post-training or match to give some necessary time to pass if ever dealing with a sensitive topic such as play time or role within the team. If ever you need something, start at the team level with the coach, and if necessary connect with the Director of Coaching or Technical Director. If ever you feel necessary, please feel free to contact me with any concerns, questions or even positive comments or thoughts about your player’s experience at Black Watch Premier. Your involvement and support make the Club what it is today.

Best,
Steve
